About The Roost
The Roost Detroit
Located at 1541 W Canfield St, Detroit, MI 48208, The Roost operates as a coffee shop serving Detroit in Michigan. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
In Detroit, coffee shops cluster around downtown offices, college campuses and the main commercial streets of residential neighborhoods, and the independents usually close by mid-afternoon while chains stay open into the evening. Across Michigan, drive-thru coffee stands and kiosks fill the gap in suburbs and along highways, and roasters often sell bags and brewing gear at the counter. Check the listing for hours, whether the cafe takes mobile orders, and its Google rating and recent reviews; parking is easiest at suburban locations, while downtown shops rely on street meters or nearby garages. Loyalty programs are common and worth joining if you are a regular.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 6 amβ6 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (313) 953-8553. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is theroostdetroitcafe.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Customers rate it 4.7 out of 5 on Google across 322 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded coffee shops in Detroit.
Detroit is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. Getting around Detroit is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Michigan's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Was excited to find a place within walking distance and glad to give business to a small business. The first time tere I spent 21 dollars including a 5 dollar tip. Went there today and was planning on tomorrow. I saw a sign that said no laptops inside and I figured it was because of the limited space. So I sat outside in the patio area and when I came in for more coffee I was told I wasn't allowed to have any kind of a computer anywhere. So I can't listen to binaural beats on my tablet or keep up with family and friends on a patio I'm alone on. America's about freedom including making dumb rules to chase away business. With that freedom I have many more choices where I can spend my money. VA Deroit, the DIA has a really nice place in the lower level, Detroit public library, even a nice bakery on Woodward where I used my laptop, Tablet and phone to move around photos. Can't for the life of me figure out why a small business would chase away business. But that's the freedom I served for. Good luck.

The Roost is such a cozy and welcoming coffee shop with a warm atmosphere and beautiful rustic dΓ©cor. We tried the iced latte, hot macchiato, croissant, and vegan spice cake, and everything was absolutely delicious. The coffee was smooth and flavorful, the croissant was fresh and flaky, and the vegan spice cake was rich, moist, and full of warm spice flavor without being overly sweet. The service was friendly, and the whole place had a relaxing vibe that made us want to stay longer. Weβll definitely be back again for more coffee and treats!

What a great cafe! The owner and staff are quite hospitable. The space is attractive and cozy. The Roost offers coffee, tea, breakfast options and wine tasting events. It also looks like a great place to hang out on a spring or summer day. I am looking forward to my next visit.
